Former Ravens' rusher Ray Rice still not getting any love from teams

I think even the most diehard Ray Rice hater would have expected that he would have gotten a phone call from some team. Yet, reports are floating around that he isn't getting any attention.

I think even the most diehard Ray Rice hater would have expected that he would have gotten a phone call from some team. Yet, reports are floating around that he isn't getting any attention.

Which is surprising given that guys like Greg Hardy have gotten a reduction in their suspension and a roster spot. Even Ray McDonald got a job in Chicago despite having a rap sheet that was a mile long and incredibly troubling.

USA Today posted up a fantasy football tip in regards to Rice, which is pretty poignant:

Rice has not played since he was suspended last year. Rice did not put up great numbers during his last full season in the league, which likely is another factor as to why he has not received interest. Rice could be an option if a team loses a running back during the preseason, but he likely will not have much fantasy value.

While most of Rice's fans have championed for the former Raven to get a second chance in the NFL, the lack of interest is telling.

Rice has been out of football for a little while and as any fan knows, the longer away from the game for any player required to stay in top shape is going to be a bad time. Add in that Rice wasn't really all that great the last year he did play for the Ravens and you have the perfect storm to go with the media coverage that he received for his assault on his then-fiancée Janay Palmer.

I'm sure interest will peak when a rusher gets hurt, but until then, Rice has to be sitting close to his phone. For any team willing to give him a shot, they could get a running back with a lot to prove and good reason to live up to his former Pro Bowl talent.
