Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees has one of the best units in all of football. After a tough 2014 season that saw the secondary obliterated due to injury, Pees seems excited about the progress the entire defense is making and thinks they are on track to a great season. After practice today, the Ravens made Pees available for questions.

High Praise

Pees had nothing but glowing things to say about linebacker Arthur Brown and Matt Elam. When asked how the two players were doing after tough seasons behind them, Pees said that Brown was "doing outstanding" and that Elam "had the best camp he's ever had."

Moving players around

Part of the Ravens defensive gameplan has always been the ability to have players play pretty much everywhere. Pees has this tradition living on as the defensive lineman were seen playing multiple positions. Pees was asked abut that to which he mentioned that the defensive line looks good and that he wants players to be able to play multiple positions.

Secondary not second

With Elam getting praise, Pees backed up the entire secondary saying that it was doing well and that he loves the depth. The addition of guys like Kendrick Lewis, Kyle Arrington and Tray Walker is breeding competition at every position and making the established players even step up their game.

Urban gets hyped

Brent Urban has been a player that many fans were excited about coming back from injury. Pees hyped Urban up a little more by saying "He was poised to be in a position last year before he got hurt, to play a lot." He followed that up with "I see him in the same situation now. I think he's fought his way back and bar anything else happening, he's going to be a contender for a starting job".
