Pete Prisco of CBS sports did a list of the most overrated player for each team in the NFL. For the Baltimore Ravens, Prisco elected Eugene Monroe for the"honor."
Prisco uses a combination of PFF ranking and contract to pinpoint the biggest discrepancy on each team. With a contract of $3.2 million last year and the last two years being injury-filled for Monroe, it isn't the biggest shock that he is on the list. However, when healthy, Monroe is a solid left tackle for the Ravens. When. Healthy.
Monroe himself pointed out that injuries have sucked for him last year, but that there is nothing he can do differently to not get rolled up on. (Editor's note: Can't say "success" without saying "sucks" first. Zing.)
"I got rolled up [on] and that was it. There was no training that could prevent that, but you just grind as hard as you can and position yourself for success."
Prisco could have put Jeremy Zuttah in Monroe's spot as Zuttah has been relieved during OTAs and not missed at all. Surrounded by All-Pro guard Marshal Yanda and stout option in Kelechi Osemele certainly has made Zuttah look better than he has been.
With the Ravens trading a fourth-round pick for the former Tampa Bay center and giving him a bigger contract, he hasn't achieved greatness.
The Ravens hope that Monroe can come back healthy in 2015 and keep the lead the team's offensive line play to the Super Bowl.
