Ravens a Top 5 Defense?

Yet another list has the Ravens ranked high, but is the hype real?

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Ravens have seem to gone from underrated to media darling this offseason. Many publications and writers have had the team ranked high on their various lists. The hype seems to have come from nowhere, as the usually underrated Ravens have sprung to the top of many lists, alongside the usual popular teams like the Seahawks and Packers. Yesterday, yet another writer ranked the Ravens high.

The Ravens have a top 5 defense.
That's something you don't hear often from the media, yet that's what Jim Mills of SiriusXM NFL Radio said yesterday. While these so-called offseason 'rankings' should be taken with a grain of salt, (as the Panthers and Dolphins were left off this list) it's still nice to see some praise from the media for the Ravens. The team doesn't really have any 'big names' on defense, but their strength lies in their depth. The team has, for the most part, depth and great starters at every position on defense. There are no weak spot for the Ravens, as they have addressed secondary issues from last year with the signings of safety Kendrick Lewis, cornerbacks Kyle Arrington and Casius Vaughn to go with the return of so many injured players.

The Ravens look prime to return to their usual spot as one of the best defenses in the league. The NFL better watch out.
