The NFL Draft has concluded. The UDFA and drafted players have been signed and have their numbers. Now comes the initial practices to see what the rookies are like on the field in-person.
The Ravens rookie camp starts today, Friday May 8th and will run until tomorrow, Saturday May 9th. This is the chance for the coaching staff to see the speed of Breshad Perriman in person and on a field they know. The chance for them to see the power of Carl Davis and the mismatch that Maxx Williams presents. This also marks the point where the rookies can get to know their coaches, learn the scheme for the Ravens and assimilate into the NFL lifestyle.
The only players permitted to participate in the rookie minicamp are drafted rookies and undrafted free agents along with any other player who hasn't spent enough time on an NFL roster to progress past their rookie status. The Ravens will have a bunch of players out on the practice field on a tryout basis.
Sadly, the media is not permitted to talk much about what they see on the practice field during this camp. However, the Ravens have made rookies Carl Davis, Za'Darius Smith, Javorius Allen and Tray Walker available for interview after practice today. Tomorrow, any of the rookies currently under contract will be available to media for on-field interviews as will head coach John Harbaugh.
This is where we should start seeing our first reports on how the young players look and what we should be expecting from them come the regular season.
