Today it was reported that former Ravens backup running back Damien Berry was arrested last night and is currently in a Florida jail on charges of writing a worthless check for over $100,000 and the unauthorized removal of property, which involved an automobile. These warrants were issued in the state of Maryland. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that Berry has not yet signed the letter of extradition in order to be taken to Maryland to be tried, but he will eventually according to prison officials.
This is not Berry's first time in the news, as he was also arrested back in 2013 when he was a Raven for speeding and driving on a suspended license. He currently still has active cases in Maryland for driving on a suspended license and failure to appear, failure to display license on demand and failure to appear and failure to pay child support and failure to appear. It does not appear he has taken care of any of his legal troubles- so this is not exactly a surprise.
Berry wasn't a Raven for long, so this really doesn't reflect badly on the organization. He was on the team's practice squad from 2011-2013, but never played a regular season game. He was on the practice squad when the team won the Super Bowl in 2012, but has since sold his ring. Since being cut by the Ravens, Berry hasn't played for another NFL team.
