Like most players in the NFL, Steve Smith has a cause that he likes to back and do events to help raise funds for that cause. The Steve Smith Foundation presents the 'Lace Up Son Family 5K'.

S2F2 hosts the second annual 5K on Monday, May 25th at 6:30AM and brings runners through downtown Matthews North Carolina. The race benefits the Special Olympics of North Carolina as well as the YMCA by providing programs and services to children that are financially unable to participate.

Established in 2013 by wide receiver Steve Smith and his wife Angie, S2F2 is focused on the emotional and spritual needs of the community. They proudly partner up with nonprofit organizations to provide hope and inspiration to those in need.

The Ravens love players that work hard in the community and for charity as it not only brings that player some good will, but helps the organization look better overall. Not to mention that these events do a lot of good for the community they are held in as well as the cause that money is being raised for.

While the event is not in Maryland, this shows exactly how hard Steve Smith and his family work to help out their communities and those around them, despite not playing for the Carolina Panthers any longer. We encourage anyone in the area to register and lace up son!
