With the 90th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Ravens have taken defensive tackle Carl Davis from Iowa
After defensive lineman Haloti Ngata was traded to the Detroit Lions earlier this offseason and Pernell McPhee was lost in free agency to the Chicago Bears, it was expected that the Ravens would want to add depth on the defensive line. Even though the Ravens already have Chris Canty, Timmy Jernigan, Brandon Williams and Lawrence Guy, Canty is not expected to last more than a season with the Ravens and the rest are still on rookie deals that could see them leave Baltimore due to Baltimore not being able to match what the open market will give them.
Davis is a big body on the line that will likely see immediate contributions simply as a run-stuffer with some pass rushing looks. At 6-foot-5 and 320-pounds, Davis is known for getting double teamed at Iowa and being able to hold his ground, which will benefit him greatly in the run game. A surprisingly effective pass rusher in college, he had 6 sacks and 2 blocked field goals last season.
A well rounded player, the Ravens are lucky to have him at this pick.
