The Ravens are in the middle of a bad spot right now, but John Harbaugh still has the opportunity to make some Ravens records. John Harbaugh needs just one more game to be tied with Brian Billick as the Ravens' all-time winningest coach, with 85 wins. Harbaugh needs two more wins to become the Ravens' all-time winningest coach.
If Coach Harbaugh gets the record, he will have done so a season quicker than Brian Billick, as Billick took nine seasons to win 85 games, while John Harbaugh can get his 85th win in his eighth season as Ravens coach. But let's not make a competition out of which coach is better. Fellow Beatdown writer Wola Odeniran wrote an article yesterday on how the Ravens have the 5th best record in the NFL since 2000. That's something that both Brian Billick and John Harbaugh are responsible for and we should appreciate both coaches equally.
This upcoming game against Miami is probably the best chance the Ravens have at getting John Harbaugh that 85th win, as the Ravens' remaining schedule features a surging Seahawks team, a surging Chiefs team, a Steelers squad that should have Ben Roethlisberger, and a dominant Bengals squad. Those games aren't unwinnable, but they were going to be hard games when Joe Flacco was healthy and they aren't going to be easy with Matt Schaub.
Hopefully John Harbaugh can get the win record and the Ravens can get themselves straightened out so that Harbaugh can add to the win record and maybe even win another Super Bowl.
