There was speculation last week as to the status of Marlon Brown, why he was taking up a roster spot. The question still remains why it took so long, but Brown has now been moved to injured reserve, ending a severely underwhelming season for him.
Brown will have his work cut out for him in making next years roster, after declining two years in a row following a stellar rookie season in which he tied Torrey Smiths rookie record for touchdowns at 7. The Ravens hope to have 1st round pick Breshad Perriman healthy, fellow undrafted free agent Kamar Aiken has emerged as a reliable receiver despite being the #1 target, there is a possibility Steve Smith Senior will return, and the Ravens will have Darren Waller, Daniel Brown, Jeremy Butler, Michael Campanaro all competing for a roster spot. Chris Givens will be an unrestricted free agent, and the Ravens may choose to draft another receiver in the top half of the draft. Out of that group, Jeremy Butler looks to be the most likely candidate for a roster spot, as he has been playing over 80% of the snaps recently and is a valuable special teams player.
The corresponding roster move has the Ravens adding cornerback Sheldon Price added from the practice squad.
