A weird turn of events, the Baltimore Ravens are trying out former Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett today.
Ravens are working out Ryan Mallett today, according to league sources

Ryan Mallett was originally drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Spending 3 full seasons in New England, the Houston Texans were the next stop on his list. Traded to Houston for a conditional 6th and 7th round pick, Mallett would serve as the primary backup until being named the starting quarterback by new head coach Bill O'Brien to replace Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Mallet would be released by the Houston Texans after reportedly missing the team charter on it's way to play the Miami Dolphins. He was forced to fly commercial to meet with the team and was released just two days later. Mallett had been outplayed by Brian Hoyer periodically through the season and even lost the initial quarterback competition, causing him to miss a day of practice in what some people were calling a protest of the decision.
The 27-year old quarterback out of Arkansas has started in only 6 games as a pro, and has compiled a paltry 53.1% completion percentage, 1,187 yards, 5 touchdowns and 7 interceptions during that time.
With the Ravens already having Matt Schaub and Jimmy Clausen as their two quarterbacks, it begs to question if someone is hurt or if the Ravens don't feel like Clausen is learning the playbook quick enough.
Current starter Matt Schaub looked to be hurt at one point in his first game as a starter for the Baltimore Ravens, against the Cleveland Browns. He would finish the game, but the question does remain if it was just a scare and the Ravens would like to extend their quarterback situation, or if Schaub is actually hurt and might miss any time.
Jimmy Clausen was signed on November 24th, giving him a very limited amount of time to learn the playbook and gel with the other players. While it wouldn't make much sense that the Ravens are unhappy with Clausen suddenly, and would like to make the switch to a quarterback that was on the open market when their original choice was made, weirder things have happened.
We'll have a better clue what the story is as head coach John Harbaugh will take the podium today and the team will release it's first injury report leading up to the game against the Miami Dolphins.
