Baltimore Ravens make expected roster moves at wide receiver

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

We've talked about how the Baltimore Ravens would be adding wide receivers Chuck Jacobs and Joe Morgan to the team, and it looks like the Ravens have finally submitted the paperwork to make it official. Joe Morgan is added to the 53-man roster, while Jacobs has been bumped to the practice squad.

In order to add those members to the team, the Ravens have to put wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. on injured reserve, officially ending his season. The Ravens also cut tight end Konrad Reuland from the practice squad to make room for Jacobs.

None of these moves were unexpected really. I think everyone knew that Steve Smith would be going to IR due to his torn Achilles tendon suffered on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. While no one knew specifically who would be waived from the practice squad, the move to cut tight end Reuland makes sense as the Ravens have three tight ends on the roster right now and might be getting tight end Dennis Pitta back in the next few weeks from his hip injury that saw him miss last season.
