Baltimore Ravens add former 49er wide receiver Chuck Jacobs

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

In one of the more interesting ways to see breaking news, current Raven cornerback Will Davis tweeted out about the Ravens adding a new member to the team. Reported by Turron Davenport, the Ravens are adding former 49er wide receiver Chuck Jacobs to the team.

Jacobs is equally as excited as Will Davis to be on the team and to help the Ravens right an abysmal start to the 2015 NFL season.

If Jacobs sounds familiar, it would be because the Ravens got a chance to see him during a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers last season. During our 5 questions segment, Niner's Nation editor David Fucillo said:

On offense, I'm a fan of wide receiver Chuck Jacobs. He put together some solid second half work during last year's preseason, and potentially earned a bit more preseason playing time. He's not a big guy, but he's got some speed, and he can get open.

Jacobs has experience both as a wide receiver and as a returner on special teams. Since Jeremy Ross' role as a return specialist seems to be in the air after being pulled in favor of running back Raheem Mostert on Sunday against the Chargers, the Ravens might want to go with Jacobs and his 4.5 second 40-yard dash speed instead. With Davis' glowing endorsement and expectations to "be ready to ball," I'm hoping that Jacobs finds a way to hit the active roster and participate in a few games.
