Eugene Monroe should be back in Week 10, no updates on Jeremy Zuttah

Two offensive linemen that are so crucial to the team were missing this Sunday.

Sunday's game was yet another contest marred by the presence of James Hurst at left tackle. Hurst, who has been one of the league's worst by both the simple eye test and advanced metrics, was once again doing what he does best by letting his quarterback down.

The appearance of Hurst on the line has only been because of the absence of Eugene Monroe, who is usually a reliable constant on the blind side. Monroe has started in only four games this year, and was ruled out of this week's contest after suffering a shoulder injury in last week's contest. The injury bug has bit Monroe hard this year, as a Week 1 concussion also kept him on the sidelines until Week 5.

But it is time to forget the past, as the bye week offers a new slate for the veteran. The hope is that Monroe will be good to go after the week of rest, as Coach John Harbaugh is feeling "very confident that [Monroe will] be back" for the battle against the Jaguars, Monroe's former team, in Week 10.

Depsite the absence of Monroe, the real issue lies in the heart of the line. When starting center Jeremy Zuttah went down with a sprained left shoulder midway though Sunday's tilt, things didn't go too well in the aftermath. Backup center John Urschel was erratic at best, with one of his snaps going straight over Flacco's head. That miscue could've cost the Ravens the game, and it forced Flacco to take a lot of snaps under center, rather than in the shotgun formation. "That’s something that we really have to go to work on.", said Coach Harbaugh, adding "Even if Jeremy comes back for the next game, those guys have got to be prepared to do a better job snapping the ball."

While snapping issues might be the least of the bye week concerns for the 2-6 Ravens, it's definitely something that the team will be working on in the coming weeks.
