Because it is a special occasion being Thanksgiving and all, we'll take a look at the only turkey day that the Ravens have ever had. For that, you'd have to go way back to 2013 to see the Baltimore Ravens take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at M&T Bank Stadium. The Ravens would eventually win the game 22-20, but that isn't what makes it interesting.
It was a game of mistakes, a fight just a minute into the game, and the inevitable sideline talk that always comes up. However, instead of breaking down the game point by point, we'll let some entertaining GIFs take care of the main highlights.
The most talked about part of the game was a return by Ravens wide receiver and return specialist Jacoby Jones. Jones had broken free of the pack and was racing down the sideline only to have Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin standing in the way. Fans of both teams will still debate whether it stopped a touchdown or whether Tomlin was really just watching the JumboTron to see the play for himself and failed to notice that everyone was right behind him, but either way, the team found itself in a little trouble for the mix-up.
In the end, the Ravens would prove the victor of one of the more entertaining Thanksgiving games in quite a while. Ravens kicker Justin Tucker would earn a turkey leg on the back of his 5-for-5 performance, while Jones would earn one for his return ability. Tucker would bring his legendary wolfpack to the table with him as he credits him wherever he goes.
Sadly this year the Ravens don't find themselves playing on Thanksgiving, but do find themselves still in primetime as they face off against the Cleveland Browns on Monday night. For such an entertaining game and one that is as good of a rivalry as you'll find in the NFL, it is surprising that this isn't mandatory scheduling every Thanksgiving.
So tear off a turkey leg and remember to watch out for Mike Tomlin on the sidelines folks. Enjoy!
