Joe Flacco is tougher than Ben Roethlisberger

It's easy to see who is the tougher quarterback when you compare how they've handled recent injuries.

Really the image says it all. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has been Mr Resiliency over his 8-year career, having never missed a game. That counts for 122 straight games where Flacco has suited up and started, tied for 3rd in the league behind Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers, a proud accomplishment to be sure.

However, a hit to the quad muscle against the St. Louis Rams caused Flacco to tear his ACL and MCL. What most players do is hit the ground and writhe in pain until the cart comes out and gets them. Flacco had other plans, namely finishing the game and putting his team in a position to win.

I wanted to win a game, and I didn’t know what was wrong. I tried to hop up as quickly as I could, and I was heading toward the sideline. The fact that I was able to hop up and head toward the sideline, I said, ‘Oh OK, let’s hang out here and see what I can do.’ I don’t know if that was the best thing, but it’s just a reaction.

It's worth noting that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger through his first 8 seasons started in only 113 games out of a total 128, missing essentially an entire season.

Hopefully we'll see Flacco return to the field early and come right back to form in 2016 after his rehab is over with.
