In a season of bad breaks, the 2015 Ravens have not had many fall their way. Depending on how you look at it, this may fall under the breaks not falling their way, or it could be relatively meaningless.
The Ravens opponent this week, the St. Louis Rams benched their starting quarterback this week. Nick Foles, in his first season in St. Louis following a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, has been mediocre and inconsistent, despite an elite showing from rookie running back Todd Gurley in his first 7 games. Gurley, selected 10th overall in this past draft, has netted 709 yards and 5 tds with another 132 yards receiving, despite being worked into the offense slowly while returning from an injury.
The benching of Foles puts another quarterback in the drivers seat in a season where the Ravens have allowed even mediocre quarterbacks to walk all over them: Case Keenum. The former Houston quarterback was signed off the practice squad last year after injuries to Ryan Mallett, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Tom Savage, and played the Ravens 6 days later. Along with a dominant performance from the Texans defense, Keenum managed a win against the Ravens in one of his only starts of the season.
Now Keenum again is in the spotlight, facing the Ravens this Sunday on a Rams team only 2 games out of a wild card spot. The Ravens hope this time will end differently- although their fans might feel differently at this point, with the playoffs out of reach,
