Steve Smith Sr. nominated for award

Fifth Annual "Salute to Service Award presented by USAA has nominated Steve Smith Sr.

Steve Smith Sr. has been officially nominated for the Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. The award is to honor league members who demonstrate exemplary commitment to honoring and supporting the military community. Steve Smith Sr., has been nominated for hosting a number of football camps around the world for children of military members ; All being free of charge to the families.

Excerpt from NFL.com regarding Steve Smith Sr. and his efforts:

By his estimation, Smith Sr. has held 12 youth football camps for children of U.S. Military members over the past several years – all free of charge. The camps have taken place at military bases, including most recently: Ramstein Air Base (Germany) in April 2015, Fort Belvoir (Va.) in April 2014; Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point (N.C.) in June 2014 and Naval Air Station Jacksonville (Fla.) in July 2014. • Smith Sr. took part in the NFL’s 2013 USO Tour by visiting U.S. military bases in Afghanistan with several other NFL players.(http://www.nfl.com/labs/rr/salute/sts#ravens)

Good news, a current Raven has won the award only 2 years ago. John Harbaugh, the head coach for the Baltimore Ravens won the award on it's 3rd annual preceeding. These Ravens are proving they know the sport isn't just a game or their career, but a platform to show support for many causes.
