Lorenzo Taliaferro Injury: Ravens put rusher on injured reserve

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Okay seriously! The Ravens are sending yet another player to injured reserve in a season that seems to be unraveling faster than it began. Running back Lorenzo Taliaferro is heading to injured reserve due to a foot injury that has been holding the rusher back for several weeks now.

In his place, the Ravens have claimed runningback Raheem Mostert off of waivers to help add some depth behind Justin Forsett and rookie Javorius Allen. Mostert was released by the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday after playing in a single game this season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Mostert had been primarily used as a kick returner for Miami as is evident by his 0 rushing attempts for 0 yards this season. Mostert has been inactive for Miami for the remainder of the season.

Taliaferro entered his second season in the NFL and with the Ravens showing off a much more chiseled physique. In my talks with him during training camp, he mentioned that eating better this offseason has allowed him to pick up a little more of the top-end speed along with keeping the bruising power he had shown last season. In the three games that Taliaferro was active for the Ravens, he had 13 rushes for 47 yards and a single touchdown. Since his injuries have kept him out of the lineup, the Ravens have excelled at run blocking and opening holes in the run game, something he would have enjoyed and taken advantage of.
