The Ravens made several adjustments to the roster today, following another disappointing loss in an underwhelming early season stretch from this year's Ravens team. The secondary was a major culprit, and with the injury to Will Davis and subsequent signing of Shareece Wright, this makes 3 new faces for the Ravens defensive backfield.
Following the jettisoning of 2 of the players who were under-performing and hurting the team with sub-par play, the Ravens brought back CB Asa Jackson from the practice squad, as well as promoting Hard knocks star Charles James III to the active roster.
Asa Jackson
Many were hoping Asa Jackson had played his last game for the Ravens, myself among them. With Jeremy Ross performing well as a kick and punt returner and those services not necessary from Jackson, the move is a curious one. Jackson is known in Baltimore as a turnstile at corner, as well as a bad tackler. Let us hope that Wright and James out perform him and his roster stay is short.
Charles James III
Charles James III on the other hand, is getting a fresh opportunity. Although he was cut by the Texans, the boisterous James has spent the beginning of the season on the Ravens practice squad. Diminutive in size, James is an aggressive corner and the hope is he can bring some swagger back to this unit. For more information on James, see these write-ups from earlier this season by editors Matthew Stevens and Nathan Beaucage.
Hopefully one of these two can step up for the Ravens before the season is completely lost.
