Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith to resume running in coming weeks

Smith's season ended prematurely due to a Lisfranc injury.

It looks like Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith is making progress on his injured foot.

During his Tuesday press conference, coach John Harbaugh told reporters that Smith will enter the offseason on track with his recovery as he continues the rehab on a Lisfranc injury that ended his season prematurely. Smith sprained his foot against the Bengals in Week 8, which eventually placed him on season-ending injured reserve.

"Jimmy will actually go into the offseason healthy. He'll be running here in a couple weeks, so he'll get a chance to get a full offseason in," Harbaugh said. "Maybe four weeks might be the number off the top of my head. So, it's pretty encouraging that way."

That's great news for Smith in that he's on schedule with the injury. Smith is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract as the Ravens picked up the fifth-year option.
