Ravens release Ray Rice, NFL suspends him indefinitely

This follows the release of a second video, showing Rice knocking out his now-wife.

The Ravens didn't have much of a choice once the elevator video surfaced.

Ray Rice, once one of the faces of the Baltimore Ravens franchise, had his contract terminated by the Ravens Monday afternoon. In the morning, TMZ posted the video inside Revel Casino, which showed Rice knocking his wife, Janay Rice, out cold with a punch to her head.

Rice had previously been suspended two games by the NFL, which drew a lot out of outrage as not being enough.

As it pertains to the football field, the Ravens now have four running backs to turn to for the remainder of the season in Bernard Pierce, Justin Forsett, Lorenzo Taliaferro and Fitzgerald Toussaint. Based on Sunday's game against Cincinnati, Forsett would appear to have the edge as being Baltimore's starter.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL decided to take the next step and suspend Rice indefinitely. This will essentially prevent any team from picking him up.
