Ravens cut Derek Cox a day before the Bengals game

Corresponding roster move has yet to be announced.

Is Derek Cox the next Billy Bajema?

Without playing a regular-season game, Cox has been signed and cut by the Ravens twice. On Saturday, the Ravens announced his latest release without mentioning the corresponding roster move.

Cox was signed shortly before the Ravens' fourth preseason game, after he was let go by the Vikings when they trimmed their roster down to 75 players. He had a solid showing against the Saints but initially didn't make the 53-man roster. However, he was brought back on Tuesday, with the organization waiving linebacker Josh Bynes. Bynes is now on the practice squad.

With Cox getting the axe on Saturday, this could mean he'll get the Billy Bajema treatment this season, where he'll be signed and dropped throughout the year. Bynes is now a candidate to be brought back to the 53-man roster.

In total, this is the fourth time Cox has been released by a team this season. He's been cut once by the Chargers, once by the Vikings and twice by the Ravens.

The Ravens will have only four true cornerbacks available for Sunday — Lardarius Webb, Jimmy Smith, Asa Jackson and Chykie Brown. Safety Anthony Levine played some cornerback during the preseason and could be an emergency option at the position.
