When inside linebacker Josh Bynes was released by the Ravens earlier this week, coach John Harbaugh said he wanted to bring him back if given the chance.
On Thursday, that chance happened, albeit in a different role.
The Ravens announced that Bynes will re-join the team on the practice squad. The corresponding roster move was waiving undrafted rookie AJ Pataiali'i.
Bynes recorded the final tackle of Baltimore's Super Bowl XLVII win over the San Francisco 49ers. Undrafted, Bynes has far exceeded expectations many had for him as an NFL prospect.
Since 2011, Bynes has played in 26 regular-season games with nine starts. He's recorded 79 tackles and four pass deflections.
Bynes could get his shot with the Ravens' 53-man roster later this season, given injuries are a common thing in this game.
