Ravens cut Deonte Thompson, promote Fitzgerald Toussaint to 53-man roster

Toussaint is back on the 53-man roster.

This may be the end of the road for receiver Deonte Thompson in Baltimore.

The Ravens announced on Saturday that Thompson had been waived, with practice squad running back Fitzgerald Toussaint making his way back to the 53-man roster. Toussaint was promoted to the 53-man roster once already, right before the first game of the season against Cincinnati.

However, he was not among the 46 active players on game day. It remains to be seen if he'll be available to play on Sunday.

However, this could signal that the Ravens want some insurance at running back in case Bernard Pierce is unable to go. Pierce is questionable with a thigh injury, popping up on the injury report on Thursday. He was a full participant in practice on Friday, however.

Thompson has yet to play a snap in two games and is behind Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken and Michael Campanaro on the depth chart. It's still possible the Ravens try and bring Thompson back if Pierce is able to play and comes out of Sunday's game healthy. But then again, seven receivers on one roster does appear a bit much.
