Chiefs sign Jamell Fleming off of Ravens practice squad

Fleming leaves Baltimore's practice squad to join Chiefs 53-man roster.

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed cornerback Jamell Fleming to their 53-man roster from the Ravens' practice squad, according to The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson.

Fleming was a recent addition to the practice squad. A former third-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2012, Fleming's career has been relatively quiet on the field.

What's also worth pointing out is how thin the Ravens are at corner on the 53-man roster. There are only four true cornerbacks — Lardarius Webb, Jimmy Smith, Chykie Brown and Asa Jackson — and Webb has missed the first two games with a back injury. Given Fleming hasn't received a call up should be an indicator that he was never in consideration for a 53-man roster spot.

The Ravens now have an open practice squad spot and will likely fill it in the coming days.
