Ravens waive Jace Davis to make room for Derek Cox

Cutting Jace Davis is the corresponding roster move.

After a Baltimore Sun report early Wednesday, the Ravens have made the Derek Cox signing official.

With the organization cutting down to 75 players on Monday, that meant a corresponding roster move needed to be made to bring Cox on. The unfortunate man out is wide receiver Jace Davis, who was waived as a result.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Ravens?src=hash">#Ravens</a> waived undrafted rookie WR Jace Davis (Northern Colorado) to make room for CB Derek Cox on the roster | <a href="http://t.co/Sn1g0o29YG">http://t.co/Sn1g0o29YG</a></p>&mdash; Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) <a href="https://twitter.com/Ravens/statuses/504640491686617090">August 27, 2014</a></blockquote>

In three preseason games, Davis had one reception for five yards. In a crowded group, Davis wasn't going to make the 53-man roster.

However, he still has practice squad potential, depending on how the position group shakes out. With 10 players per practice squad, Davis could stand to benefit — at least somewhere else around the league — when it's all said and done.
