Time for Chykie Brown to earn the No. 3 cornerback spot

Due to injury, the Ravens will be without their top three cornerback options against the Redskins.

The third preseason game is typically the dress rehearsal for those players expected to make the 53-man roster. Even though he's not on the bubble, Ravens cornerback Chykie Brown may be playing in one of the most important games in his four-year career.

Brown was expected to be the Ravens third option at cornerback, replacing the departed Corey Graham in free agency. After a horrible start to training camp, he currently looks like the fourth option, trailing Asa Jackson.

Jackson is sidelined with an ankle injury and due to injuries to Lardarius Webb (back) and Jimmy Smith (chest), Brown will be the top option for the Ravens against a stout Redskins receiving corp including DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon.

Without may true camp battles occurring, the third cornerback position one of the very roster spots up for grabs. Brown hasn't done much to help his cause thus far, but he has all the ability in the world to play the third corner position and play it consistently throughout the season.

Due to the lack of depth at cornerback, tonight's game against the Redskins probably won't be pretty. However, focusing on Brown is something that not only the Ravens coaching staff, but the Redskins offense will be doing as well.
