It's only been one preseason game, though plenty of folks believe the Ravens offense will be vastly improved.
Chalk 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis into that category. Willis got to see the Ravens firsthand in last week's preseason game, as well as the previous three joint practices this past Saturday through Monday. Speaking with BaltimoreRavens.com's Ryan Mink, Willis said he thinks the Ravens offense should look a lot better in 2014.
"The offensive coordinator [Gary Kubiak] is from Houston and I always thought Houston had some of the best play-action in the game. They run the ball really well, especially with Ray Rice. Then you take that play-action that they do and you have receivers like Steve Smith and Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. If you get guys biting, those guys can stretch the field."
Willis added that this offense — much like Kubiak's scheme in Houston — isn't necessarily a complicated one. But it works. And that's all that matters at the end of the day. Sometimes, simplifying something can work out for the benefit of everyone in the long run.
