Over the last half of the 2013 season, you could make a case that Jimmy Smith was emerging into a top-three player on the Ravens' defense.

His coverage skills greatly improved and he appeared more comfortable within the scheme. Against the Lions, he was tasked with following Calvin Johnson around, which shows the kind of confidence the organization has in his abilities.

The Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston writes that Smith could be on the verge of a breakout season, one that propels him into the national conversation among the game's better cornerbacks.

You'd be hard-pressed to assume that the Ravens won't make any free-agent moves, especially when training camp is underway and the organization can better evaluate their players.
