The Ravens cut wide receiver Aaron Mellette and outside linebacker Adrian Hamilton today. Both players spent time on injured reserve.

Releasing Hamilton and Mellette were not huge shockers due to the depth the Ravens have at the linebacker and wide receiver position with the addition of rookie C.J. Mosley at linebacker as well as the signing of free agent wide receiver Steve Smith.

Mellette, a 2013 seventh-round draft pick, was showing promise but was also tagged for not quite being over the knee injury that saw him miss last season. Hamilton was fully recovered from wrist surgery but spent all of 2013 on injured reserve after seeing little action in 2012 with only 1 tackle that season.

The Ravens could use the two new open roster spots for a cornerback. The Ravens have reportedly shown interest in Brandon Flowers and has brought in a slew of corners in today to try out for the team.
