NFL Draft 2014: Ravens draft Colorado State tight end Crockett Gillmore with 99th overall pick

Baltimore's second third-round choice is Colorado State tight end Crockett Gillmore.

Take a look at this: My second mock draft back on March 10 for this site. Look at that projected fourth-round compensatory pick. Just sayin' guys.

Of course, I went away from this and figured the Ravens wouldn't take Colorado State tight end Crockett Gillmore. And then on Friday night they did, taking Gillmore with the 99th overall pick in the third round. You may have never heard of him based on where he played college ball at, but Gillmore is a more-than-capable tight end at the next level.

It's almost ideal that he'll come in and be able to work behind Dennis Pitta and Owen Daniels early on. He's got great size at 6-6, 260 pounds, and has proven to be a reliable target in the passing game. He's not especially fast and he's not going to be a threat like some of these NFL receiving tight ends have become.

But he's a great fit for the Gary Kubiak offense and can offer balance as a run-blocker, too.
