Ozzie Newsome's level of trust in his support staff

The class of the organization starts at the top and trickles down.

In his 19 years as general manager of the Ravens, Ozzie Newsome has got his job down pat. He's orchestrated two Super Bowl championship teams, four division championships and nine overall playoff appearances.

Sure, no one wins a championship in the offseason, but the Ravens have given themselves an advantage through the work that is put in by Newsome and his supporting staff of assistant general manager Eric DeCosta and director of college scouting, Joe Hortiz.

For Newsome, it's all about trust.

"I think how we've been able to progress through the years is with trust," Newsome said. "The trust that I have in Eric and Joe and the scouts, and the trust that I have with the coaches."

This year, Newsome has received some additional imput and praised some of Harbaugh's new hires to his coaching staff, especially offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak. Newsome credited them with doing an "unbelieveable" job.

Just like filling out a bracket for March Madness, the draft is unpredictable. Newsome and the Ravens are just one of 32 teams looking to improve themselves with one of the deeper classes they've seen in years. It's too early to tell what's going to happen, but the Ravens are ready.

"I don't know where this draft is going to stand in the 19 years that we've been doing this, but I do trust the information and the people that will be a part of the draft, and I think that when we finish up on Sunday afternoon with the undrafted college free agents, we will bring in some players who are going to impact our football team, not only this year, but in years to come," Newsome said.

It was a nice gesture by Newsome to sum up his thoughts and fellings on the draft process and thank the members of his supporting staff that don't often receive the credit they should. Newsome and the Ravens have been nothing but class, and it shows that it starts at the top and trickles down from there.
