Safety Terrence Brooks to sign rookie contract

The third round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Terrence Brooks will sign his rookie contract today

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The third round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Terrence Brooks signed his rookie contract today. Selected 79th overall, Brooks makes the final Ravens draft selection to sign later today. It is reported by Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun that it will be a four-year contract and he'll sign it later today.

At 5-foot-11 and 200-pounds, Brooks was selected due to his range, having run the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds with a 38-inch vertical leap. It is expected that Brooks will compete for the starting free safety position against Darian Stewart. Stewart was signed and Brooks was drafted to be able to push second year player, Matt Elam inside to the strong safety position, where Elam is far more comfortable and dangerous.

The All-ACC and All-American selection started the final 27 games of his college career for the Florida State Seminoles ending with a BCS National Championship. Brooks has played both strong safety and free safety duringhis college career, so he is well versed in both positions and could be a dangerous weapon for a Ravens pass defense that is looking to rebound from a disappointing season last year where they were beaten early in the season, but came together late.

Edit: Brooks has officially signed his contract and is now a Baltimore Raven. Numbers arent known yet but we will post them as soon as we know.
