The Ravens showed some brief interest in LeGarrette Blount this offseason before letting him eventually sign with the Steelers.
There was a need for a bigger running back on this roster, given the Ravens' issues in the short-yardage game a year ago. Though they missed on Blount, they have picked up someone that can fill that role in the fourth round.
Coastal Carolina running back Lorenzo Taliaferro isn't a name many people know about it. An off-radar prospect, Taliaferro quietly was named a second-team FCS All-American selection while earning All-Big South honors.
In 2013, he ran for 1,729 rushing yards and 27 rushing touchdowns and finished 11th in the Walter Payton Award.
Taliaferro is no joke. The Ravens might be onto something with this pick. It's not a splash because he doesn't have a big name attached to him. But he's someone that offers a niche the Ravens were looking for.
We'll have to see how he progresses through offseason workouts, but this looks like a solid pick from the outside.
