Steve Smith is acclimating himself to Baltimore

Crabcakes and football, that's what Steve Smith does.

Steve Smith is fitting into Baltimore quite nicely.

Even though he still resides in the Queen City, the Ravens newest receiver is acclimating himself quite nicely to Charm City, his in-season place of residence. While in town for the Ravens offseason conditioning program, Smith has really started to understand what being a Raven and Marylander is all about.

Smith certainly won over a lot of new fans with this tweet:

On Tuesday, Smith finished his workout and joined running back Ray Rice for dinner. It should also be of note that Rice, seen in the photo below, is in ridiculous shape at 207 pounds. Rice took Smith to his favorite local restaurant (and that of many other Ravens players) for a true taste of Baltimore at Jimmy's Famous Seafood in Dundalk.

"We just wanted to make sure everything was first class and top notch because the whole city is excited for Steve," said Jimmy's Famous Seafood owner John Minadakis. "His interaction with the kids was great. One kid was eating with his father next to Steve and brought him a piece of paper to sign. Instead, Steve took a picture with him and had him write down his address so he could mail him an autographed picture.

Jimmy's is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and serves hundreds of thousands of crab cakes per year. However, Minadakis served a special "crab cake" for Smith that wasn't even on the menu. With a quick phone call to Yia Yia's bakery in Rosedale, Smith was presented with this amazing cake at dessert.

Minadakis wasn't offended when neither Smith or Rice took a bite of the cake at the restaurant.

"Right now, they're not cheating," he said. "It's called offseason conditioning for a reason."

If you'd like to rub elbows with some fellow Ravens and enjoy what has been voted Baltimore's favorite restaurant and best crab cake within the past year, come out to Jimmy's for their 5th annual draft party. I'll be emceeing the event with special Ravens co-hosts wide receiver Torrey Smith and cornerback Jimmy Smith.

Here's a Facebook link with the details or you can call (410) 633-4040 for tickets.
