Outside linebacker D.J. Bryant was signed today to his exclusive tender deal. Terms are not known at this time but it isn't figured to be much more than the minimum.
Bryant is an undrafted linebacker that was a practice squad addition last year that saw him waived and resigned. He was previously a practice squad member for the Jets, Colts, Buccaneers and Texans. Entering his second year, he undoubtedly hopes to make the final 53 man roster based on special teams play.
Bryant is a local player, having played at Randallstown High School in Randallstown, Maryland as a defensive end and wide receiver. He was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Baltimore City-County All-Star game and was a two time All-County player.
The Ravens have done well with late round and undrafted linebackers including Pro Bowl linebackers, Adalius Thomas and Bart Scott. They do have a need at linebacker from a depth standpoint after resigning Daryl Smith and Terrell Suggs to a contract extension this offseason.
