The Ravens have until March 11 to work out a deal before Monroe hits free agency.

Eugene Monroe was not tagged.

But the left tackle, acquired by the Ravens during the middle of the 2013 season, still has time to stick with the team that traded fourth- and fifth-round picks for him. Though the franchise tag deadline was Monday, free agency doesn't start until March 11.

The tag would have cost the Ravens $11.654 million.

One on hand, the Ravens not applying the tag could be seen as a positive sign that negotiations are heading in the right direction. If the two parties were too distant on an agreeable number, perhaps the Ravens apply the tag to ensure he stays in Baltimore.

Then again, the Ravens and Monroe are reportedly "far apart" on a new deal. If that's the case, maybe talks could be at a standstill for the time being.

The Ravens have a little over a week to get closer to a number to Monroe's liking. You can bet they'll do what they can to get the job done.
