It was widely speculated that if Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith was available, the Ravens would be interested.

And they are.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith is set to visit the Ravens on Friday. He'll fly to Baltimore Thursday evening per reports.

After 13 seasons in Charlotte, Smith was released on Thursday. In May, Smith will turn 35, but vowed today on a Charlotte radio station that his age will not be a factor.

Smith will receive plenty of interest on the open market, but kudos to Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome and the rest of the Ravens front office for moving so swiftly to get Smith on a flight immediately. If signed, Smith will add veteran depth to the Ravens wide receiving corps and won't break the bank.
