Free agency could determine a lot for the Ravens in terms of which direction it wants to go in the first few rounds of the 2014 NFL draft.
If certain areas are addressed, then one scenario could be the Ravens taking a safety in the first round. It will be a bit of a surprise if James Ihedigbo is back despite his outstanding 2013 season. Matt Elam, a first-round pick in 2013, is the organization's strong safety of the future and there will be a need to find someone to fill the free safety spot if Ihedigbo walks.
Therefore, it wouldn't be out of the question to see the Ravens take a safety with the 17th overall pick. The top-rated free safety of this class is Alabama's Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, and it's apparent why. He's got range, plenty of speed and is a sure-tackler.
He has been moving up the mock draft boards of late so the Ravens may not get the chance to take him.
Check out this SB Nation scouting report on Clinton-Dix's game and how it translates to the NFL. Matt Ufford breaks down Clinton-Dix and explains why he's the top-ranked safety in this year's draft class.
