The Ravens will trot out their third long snapper of the season.
On Thursday, the organization announced that it signed Patrick Scales to be Baltimore's new long snapper. With Morgan Cox on injured reserve with a torn ACL and Kevin McDermott now on IR with an elbow injury, Scales will now get his shot with the Ravens.
McDermott's move potentially shows he had this injury heading into last week's game against Jacksonville, or sustained it early on. On both of Justin Tucker's 54-yard field goal attempts, McDermott's snap came out awkwardly, with punter Sam Koch having to reach up or behind to grab the ball to hold. Each kick was missed.
Scales was with the Ravens' offseason teams in 2011 and 2012 and tried out for the open spot with McDermott after Cox was injured.
McDermott is yet another player to see his season end prematurely, as the Ravens now have 17 players on IR.
In addition to the Scales signing, Baltimore added running back Tauren Poole to the practice squad. The corresponding roster move was cutting tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi.
