Ravens activate Terrence Cody, promote Tramain Jacobs; waive Chykie Brown and Phillip Supernaw

Ravens making roster moves this Tuesday.

After spending nine weeks on the physically unable to perform list, nose tackle Terrence Cody is back on the 53-man roster. He's not the only one making the jump, as cornerback Tramain Jacobs has been promoted to the unit as well.

As a result, cornerback Chykie Brown and tight end Phillip Supernaw have been waived.

Brown had a horrible game this past Sunday against Pittsburgh and that was likely the final straw for him as a member of the Ravens. Brown was always considered a project since he was drafted in 2011 but never was able to elevate his play to become a serious consideration for the rotation.

He did have some solid moments when called upon. In 2012, he had an excellent Week 16 game against the Giants, when he recorded four pass deflections while covering receivers Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks. But Brown's struggles have been well documented over the past two seasons, leading to his dismissal on Tuesday.

Supernaw would seem to a prime candidate to rejoin the practice squad, which has a spot open with Jacobs' promotion.

One more candidate for the Ravens' roster to keep an eye on is Danny Gorrer, who was waived by the Lions. The Ravens are thin at cornerback and will likely not have Jimmy Smith this week, thus making him an option for depth reasons. He's also familiar with the defense, having been with the franchise in 2010 and 2011.
