Jim Caldwell's taking a familiar face in Baltimore with him to Detroit.

According to the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson, Caldwell will likely hire Ravens defensive backs coach Teryl Austin to be the Lions' defensive coordinator.

Austin has had a strong record coaching the defensive backs in Baltimore. By all accounts, he's well-liked in the locker room and has been able to get the most out of those in his unit.

Corey Graham has emerged into an NFL cornerback under his tutelage and Jimmy Smith has progressed nicely the past three seasons.

Though it hurts the Ravens for him to leave, it was only a matter of time before Austin landed a promotion somewhere.
