The Ravens are now in the market for an offensive coordinator.
On Tuesday, Jim Caldwell agreed to become the new head coach of the Detroit Lions. Once Ken Whisenhunt turned the job down to accept the same position with the Tennessee Titans, all of the focus turned to Caldwell.
Caldwell received a lot of credit for helping engineer Baltimore's offensive success during the 2012 Super Bowl run. But Caldwell then took a lot of heat for the problems the offense encountered throughout the entire 2013 regular season.
Caldwell saw his share of successes and failures when he was at the helm of the Indianapolis Colts from 2009-2011. In his first season, Caldwell coached the Colts to a Super Bowl appearance, that saw the Saints defeat them. But in 2011, with Peyton Manning sidelined with a neck injury, the his team finished a dismal 2-14 and he was fired as a result.
Finding work with Baltimore as its quarterbacks coach, Caldwell became the interim offensive coordinator after Cam Cameron was fired after Week 14 of the 2012 regular season.
Caldwell could take some Ravens assistants with him in Detroit. The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson listed some names that could opt to work with Caldwell in Detroit.

For the Ravens, the attention will turn to filling the offensive coordinator position. Do the Ravens go outside the organization or fill it internally?
That's a decision the Ravens will have to make in the coming days.
