Ryan Jensen could practice with Ravens in coming weeks

It was thought that center Ryan Jensen would wind up on injured reserve due to a broken foot suffered during the first week of training camp.

That no longer appears to be the case.

The rookie out of Colorado State Pueblo could wind up back on the field soon. It was originally dubbed a 10-week injury when he broke his foot, though that was during the last week of July.

That would put him on pace for a return for the first week of October, with the Ravens visiting the Dolphins on that Sunday. However, there's still a chance Jensen is back before then.

Coach John Harbaugh said Jensen will add depth as a swing lineman, someone that can play both guard and center on offense.

"We feel like he's going to be a player for us sooner rather than later, and that's why we held on to him on the 53- [man roster]," Harbaugh said during his weekly Monday press conference. "We've got high hopes for him for this year, and he's not too far out. He had a broken foot early in training camp, but it was early in training camp. He's worked really hard. He's in very good shape. He's going to have to get in football shape, but he's getting closer to being back, so we're excited about him."
