After releasing 12 players on Sunday, the Ravens got their roster down to 77 players.
But they still have two more to go to get to 75, which is what the NFL requires for all teams by Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Here's a look at moves the Ravens could be considering with the first cut down day arriving soon:
Potential cuts
C Reggie Stephens: With training camp over and the Ravens getting into regular season practice mode, there isn't a need for a third center anymore. However, the Ravens may need him for the fourth preseason game since Gino Gradkowski probably won't play more than one or two series.
TE Alex Silvestro: Silvestro is a distant fifth tight end on the roster at this time. Billy Bajema and Matt Furstenburg figure to receive most of the tight end looks on Thursday, with perhaps fullback Kyle Juszczyk getting some work in the receiving game. But like Stephens, the Ravens may need Silvestro to get through the game.
S Brynden Trawick: The Ravens have seven safeties on the roster and could probably spare one by Tuesday's deadline. Trawick blocked a punt against Tampa Bay which could help his standing signing elsewhere. The Ravens likely keep four safeties at most on the 53-man roster.
Potential IR moves
TE Dennis Pitta: If the Ravens aren't able to cut anyone, this might be the time they place Pitta on either season-ending injured reserve or injured reserve-designated to return. A move has yet to be made as coach John Harbaugh said the organization was still awaiting all of the necessary information pertaining to his recovery.
WR Deonte Thompson: To be clear, there's been nothing leading to this thus far. However, Thompson hasn't participated in practice since spraining his foot against Tampa Bay in the first preseason game. On Sunday, coach John Harbaugh was mum when asked about Thompson's status, saying Monday was the day the Ravens would learn more about him. If the injury winds up more serious than initially believed, then it's possible Thompson winds up on IR.
G/C Ryan Jensen: Jensen broke his foot early in training camp, which requires a 10-week recovery period. That would place his earliest possible return at the beginning of October. With eight offensive linemen on the squad for sure, with the starting five set, the Ravens might be able to afford putting Jensen on IR at this time.
Potential PUP moves
ILB Jameel McClain and DT Kapron Lewis-Moore: As it stands now, McClain and Lewis-Moore are counting against the roster count on the active/PUP and active/NFI lists, respectfully. The Ravens could move both players to reserve/PUP, meaning they'll miss the first six games of the year. Of course, Lewis-Moore is also a candidate for season-ending injured reserve, with McClain having a better shot of playing in 2013.
