Exactly how good the Ravens will be in 2013 remains to be seen, but the team has made multiple headlines this offseason due to a radical roster shakeup that included the departures of a number of household names. Raven fans have waged war back and forth all offseason, both scrutinizing and supporting the moves made by General Manager Ozzie Newsome.
Recently retired Ravens' center Matt Birk joined NFL Total Access on July 4th to discuss the possible fortunes for his former team heading into the 2013 season. He emphasized the Ravens revamped defensive front that should be greatly improved from last season after adding Chris Canty, Marcus Spears and Elvis Dumervil to a group that already boasts two perennial Pro-Bowlers in Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata. Birk also raved about the return of cornerback Lardarius Webb to the defensive lineup after an ACL tear ended his 2012 season, "Webb is a football player, he may not be a household name, but he is one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL."
