The top fullback in the NFL, Vonta Leach, is expected to have a decision made by Friday on where he will be for the 2013 NFL season.
Leach is expected to pick between the Miami Dolphins and Ravens, with the Ravens being the clear favorite to win Leach back.
The Dolphins and Leach were in discussions a few days ago, but it seems as if the two just couldn't come up with a deal. The Ravens, on the other hand, put an offer on the table for Leach and didn't do much more after that. They have not been in pursuit of Leach, they just laid down the offer and it is still on the table. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Leach is expected to take the Ravens offer on Friday.
If the Ravens re-sign Leach, it would mean that they have the most talented fullback on their roster once again.
The Ravens were forced to cut Leach in May due to failed contract negotiations. After he passed through waivers and officially became a free agent, the Ravens offered a deal and it has been there ever since.
Most Ravens fans are hoping Leach comes back, since he was such a large presence in the running game for Ray Rice. Rice basically wouldn't be the guy he is today if he didn't have Leach blocking for him. If Leach is able to return to the Ravens, it could see a boost in the running game, especially since they would have Ray Rice, Bernard Pierce, Vonta Leach, and rookie Kyle Juszczyk.
The Ravens would be fine without Leach, but it wouldn't hurt to have a three-time Pro-Bowler and a three-time All-Pro back on the roster.
Hopefully Vonta Leach will be signing his contract by 5 p.m. Friday, or maybe earlier. For so many fans, the re-signing of Leach would be one of the best things to happen this offseason, and that is no joke.
Let's hope that No. 44 will be back in Purple & Black as soon as possible. It seems very likely to happen, according to multiple reports.
