The Ravens website reported the other day that they are "in love" with a lot of the free agents still available. I still think that they are flirting with the idea of bring back Vonta Leach at a reduced price. I still think that he could be a big part of the offense and make it more dynamic. He can be the leader of our power running game and has proved he has okay ball skills. I really hope that the Ravens are planning to bring in some more receivers to camp, as well. I think this is a low risk move given a smart contract and the Ravens could really use it. The Ravens should think about bringing in someone like Brandon Lloyd, Austin Collie or Laurent Robinson. The Beat Down has already explored the prospect and Brandon Lloyd, so let’s take a look at the other two.
First of all, I completely understand that Austin Collie and Laurent Robinson have had concussion problems in their past, but these deals are meant to be try outs without long term guaranteed money. Collie has almost 2,000 yards in his career. In his 4 year career, he has average just less than 44 yards per game. Collie’s concussion problems have been well documented, but I think he deserves at least a chance. The thing I like about Collie is the fact that he can play in the slot. He could be a valuable asset to the Ravens with Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones on the outside.
Laurent Robinson is seen by many as a flash in the pan. Robinson is another player has well documented concussion issues. He went to Jacksonville last year and did not succeed. He had a career season in Dallas two years ago with over 800 yards, but could not follow that up with Blaine Gabbert at the helm. I also think that he is worth a shot. The Ravens have Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones and some question marks.
I just don’t see the Ravens receivers lighting the world on fire this year, so I think one of these guys would be worth at least a shot.
