Ravens Sparse At Top Of NFL's Top 100 Rankings

Nine players from the Super Bowl Champions made the list of Top 100 Players of 2013, with none higher than #13, and only three among the top 40.

One would think that the defending Super Bowl Champions would be chock full of superstars, with at least one among the game's best and certainly more than a few in the top 40. In the NFL's Top 100 Players of 2013, only nine members of the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl XLVII winning team made the list.

The highest ranked Ravens player was RB Ray Rice (#13). QB Joe Flacco appears at #19, one slot behind now former teammate and Houston Texans safety, Ed Reed. You'll have to scan way down the list to #42 before another player from the team shows up, DT Haloti Ngata.

The only other current and recently former Ravens on the list are OLB Terrell Suggs (#56), SS Bernard Pollard (#87), WR/KR Jacoby Jones (#88), WR Anquan Boldin (#93) and TE Dennis Pitta (#100). overall, while the Ravens may have had as many or more than any other team in the league, their lack of presence among the top half of the rankings may surprise many Baltimore fans.

In contrast, the San Francisco 49ers had nine, including two in the top ten and six in the top 50. On the other hand, the Ravens AFC North rivals were even more scarce on the list, with the Pittsburgh Steelers (3), Cincinnati Bengals (2) and Cleveland Browns (2), combining to have less than the Ravens. To be fair, the players are listed according to their current team, not their team last year, hence the Ravens actually only having six current players on the list.
